Cubans residing in Venezuela reaffirm the island’s sovereignty

Caracas, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) — The Association of Cubans Residing in Venezuela (Accreven) has reaffirmed that Cuba’s sovereignty, dignity, and self-determination are neither negotiable nor subject to the dictates of any foreign power.

In an official statement, the organization’s National Board of Directors expressed its “firm and unconditional rejection” of foreign judicial manipulation and the arrest warrant issued against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raul Castro, by courts in Florida, United States.

The text stresses its “unrestricted” support to the historic leadership of the Revolution—specifically Raul Castro—and to the Cuban government, led by President Miguel Diaz-Canel. It further condemned the use of “international procedural law” as a tool for geopolitical warfare and blackmail.

The statement emphasized that the purported indictment is “nothing more than a spurious maneuver of political persecution,” lacking any basis in international law and driven by the visceral hatred of extremist factions seeking to undermine the sovereignty and independence of their own homeland.

The Cubans residing in Venezuela asserted that the downing of the light aircraft was carried out in strict accordance with the inalienable right of every sovereign nation to protect its territorial borders and ensure state security against acts of aerial piracy.

They described it as “unacceptable and deeply hypocritical” for the U.S. judicial system to attempt to sit in judgment of the actions of “our leaders,” while simultaneously harboring, protecting, and granting impunity to the actual criminals and terrorists who have brought bloodshed upon the Cuban people.
