Santiago’s Wasps fly alone at the top of Cuban baseball

Havana, Oct 23 (Prensa Latina) The "Avispas" (Wasps) of Santiago de Cuba have reclaimed sole possession of the lead in the Eastern Zone of the 65th National Baseball Series, following a 12-inning, 9-6 victory over Guantanamo and taking advantage of a stumble by Granma team against Holguin.

The “Cachorros” (Cubs) of Holguin scored five runs in the eighth inning to secure a 7-5 win, despite late home runs from Yuliesky Remón and Alexquemer Sanchez.

The “Lenadores” (Lumberjacks) of Las Tunas also made short work of the “Tigres” (Tigers) of Ciego de Avila, defeating them 12-4.
