Paris, Oct 24 (Prensa Latina) French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez confirmed that the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a shooting west of the capital, as he provided details on the police deployment for this Saturday’s protests.

Nunez stated that the investigation into shooting in Trappes and La Verriere—in the Yvelines department—which left a 26-year-old dead and four others wounded (including a 12-year-old child), is being handled by the aforementioned prosecutor’s office.

Furthermore, the General Directorate for Internal Security (DGSI) has been mobilized, the Interior Minister announced during a press conference.

The minister noted that some evidence points to a potential homicidal motive, though he clarified that the perpetrator’s specific reasons remain unknown.

The investigation aims to clarify the circumstances of the attack and determine whether there was a terrorist motive.

Television channel BFM TV reported that the perpetrator, who has been taken into custody has been identified as 39-year-old Kevin T.

Meanwhile, the Interior Minister announced that 70,000 police officers and gendarmes are deployed for the demonstrations, supported by specialized units, armored vehicles, and water cannons.
