After inspecting military units deployed along the Strait’s coast, Abdollahi told reporters that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)’s land and naval forces control the Persian Gulf coastline, the islands, and this strategic maritime route.
The high-ranking official rejected claims by US President Donald Trump on the opening of the Strait, stating that the area remains under the surveillance of the Iranian Armed Forces.
He also warned that any vessel attempting to pass the maritime route outside those designated by Tehran could jeopardize its own safety and sustain damage.
The Strait of Hormuz is a strategic route for the international transport of oil, gas, and other goods; consequently, any disruption to navigation could impact energy markets and global trade.
