The Occhio Blu-Anna Cenerini Bova Association organized the festival, running until November 7.
The Casa del Cinema, Cinema Farnese, Cinema Troisi, and Palazzo San Lorenzo will screen 11 feature films and 12 short films in competition.
Under the theme “Europe Does Not Say Goodbye to the Balkans,” the festival explores identity, conflicts, social transformations, emancipation, and the region’s historical memory through works by filmmakers from several countries.
The program includes productions that address the aftermath of wars, intergenerational relationships, and the challenges by different social groups in contemporary Europe.
Selected titles include “Blum: Masters of Their Own Destiny” by Bosnian filmmaker Jasmila Zbanic, “Nina Roza” by Genevieve Dulude-De Celles, “I Matter” by Alina Șerban, and “Beautiful Evening, Beautiful Day” by Ivona Juka, alongside other films from Albania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Montenegro, Romania, and Serbia.
This year’s edition also introduces the “EBFF Industry Days,” running from this Saturday through November 2, to strengthen audiovisual production ties between Italy, other European countries, and the Balkans’ nations.
