Running until November 5, the event brings together health professionals and emergency response experts from around the world to exchange experiences and technical knowledge, and strengthen cooperation.
Ethiopia’s Health Ministry, the Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI), and the WHO organized the event as countries face increasingly complex health threats.
Naima Zeynu, Director of Public Health Emergency Management at the EPHI, noted during a press briefing before the meeting that Addis Ababa has implemented a series of structural reforms to strengthen its health sovereignty and develop national capacities across the entire sector.
Zeynu described the gathering as an important milestone that will allow countries to share experiences and best practices on medical responses to public health emergencies.
