Havana, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) — Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has expressed his gratitude to his counterpart from Lesotho, Limpho Tau, for his words of support following the latest victory at the United Nations General Assembly against the United States blockade.

On his X (formerly Twitter) account, Rodríguez reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the close ties of friendship and cooperation between the two nations and their governments.

In an interview with the *Lesotho Times*, Tau described the decision to support Cuba as a just cause.

“It is in times like these that true friends are needed and support one another,” the Foreign Minister stated.

Tau noted that Maseru and Havana have maintained relations for decades. Cuba has sent qualified doctors to work in Lesotho, while students from Lesotho have traveled to the Caribbean island to study medicine.

“Cuba has supported us over the years. Many of our compatriots studied there, and Cuban doctors have worked in Lesotho, providing much-needed healthcare services,” he added, also recalling the assistance the Caribbean nation provided to Africa in its struggle against colonial oppression.

He further pointed out that 35 students from Lesotho in Cuba are suffering the consequences of the U.S. blockade. Given the “far from encouraging” findings of an assessment conducted by the High Commissioner (based in Canada) regarding the students’ situation, his government is preparing measures to assist them.

Since 1979, relations between Cuba and Lesotho have been characterized by mutual respect, solidarity, and cooperation—particularly in the sectors of health and education—including the provision of scholarships for students from Lesotho in fields such as medicine and physical education.
