In a message posted on X, Rezaei said the Iranian nation defeated Trump “on the battlefield and in the Strait of Hormuz,” and also inflicted a political defeat on him in the US capital, alluding to the midterm legislative election results.
“At the same time, the United States was forced to pay the price for its war,” added the official, who warned that any actor that confronts Iran will face the consequences, both on the battlefield and within their own country.
The Associated Press reported that preliminary, unofficial results from the Congress’s elections pointed to a Democratic Party victory in both chambers, at the expense of the Republican Party.
Such an outcome would limit Trump’s ability to advance his legislative agenda, while the potential repercussions for US policy toward Iran remain uncertain.
