Cuban president highlights progress in vaccination against Covid-19

Havana, Dec 8 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Wednesday highlighted the progress made in vaccination against Covid-19 in the country, especially after adding of minors to the immunization campaign.

The head of State pointed out on Twitter that children and adolescents who suffered from Covid-19 will be able to receive their dose of the Soberana Plus vaccine, one those developed by Cuban scientists to fight the disease successfully.

In this sense, he recalled that on Tuesday, the Center for State Control of Medicines, Equipment and Medical Devices (Cecmed) validated the Soberana Plus vaccine for emergency use in the pediatric population over two years of age who are convalescent from Covid-19.

The latest official data reveal that 9,287,955 people in Cuba (83 percent) completed the Covid-19 vaccination plan consisting of three doses of the Cuban-made vaccines approved so far by the Cecmed (Abdala, Soberana 02 and Soberana Plus).

Cuba ranks first in Latin America and third in the world in terms of immunization against Covid-19, only surpassed globally by the United Arab Emirates and Singapore, according to Our World in Data digital website.
