Cuba reports 2,814 new Covid-19 cases and seven deaths

Havana, Jan 27 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) on Thursday reported 2,814 new Covid-19 cases and seven deaths due to complications related to this disease.

With these figures, the country has accumulated 1,033,984 contagions and 8,383 deaths since the pandemic broke out on March 11, 2020.

Cuba’s lethality rate is 0.81 percent, much lower than 1.57 percent recorded globally and 1.89 in the Americas, the MINSAP added.

Data released on Thursday show that 30,038 patients are in hospitals or home nationwide, 14,446 of whom are suspected cases, 212 are under epidemiological surveillance and 15,380 are active cases.

Of the total of active cases, 15,327 are clinically stable and 53 are being treated in intensive care units: 21 are in a critical condition and 32 are seriously ill.

In the last few hours, 3,843 patients were discharged, so the total number of recovered people is 1,010,162, accounting for 97.7 percent of all cases.

On Wednesday, all molecular biology laboratories in Cuba made 30,224 PCR tests in real time to detect the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, totaling 12,577,992 samples so far.
