National Covid-19 vaccination day in Nicaragua advances

Managua, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua’s national day of voluntary Covid-19 booster vaccination advances with the purpose of immunizing the greatest number of people and preventing the spread of the disease.

“We are completing the scheme of those who have not been vaccinated even once. We are inviting them and we go looking for them house to house, but we are also applying doses to children over 3-years-old,’ Dr. Daritza Perez, responsible for the program in the capital, told the press.

She stated the importance of each person having received four or five doses of coronavirus vaccine, since antibody levels tend to decrease over time.

Perez highlighted the place achieved by Nicaragua at the Central American level in terms of complete vaccination schemes, and stressed the need to get injected, since there is a considerable decrease in seriously ill patients in the country.

The Pan American Health Organization recently published that Nicaragua ranked first at the regional level with 84.9 percent of the scheme completed and fifth in the Americas region.

As reported, the medical brigades will continue the house-to-house vaccination in the coming days, a program that will provide for the application of more than 120,000 doses in the capital alone.
