The Cuban reality, its challenges and solutions were discussed at the meeting, as reported on Twitter by the permanent representative of Cuba to the United Nations, Pedro Luis Pedroso.

Chapman also met with the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, in the context of his participation in the 2023 United Nations Conference on Water, held in New York.

She also talked with the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, who sent greetings to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro, and the president, Miguel Díaz-Canel.

During her speech at the UN, the vice minister denounced the blockade imposed by the United States as the main obstacle to access external financing and achieve better results in Cuba’s water sector.

The United Nations Conference on the Comprehensive Midterm Review of the Achievement of the Goals of the International Decade for Action ‘Water for Sustainable Development’ 2018-2028, is intended to speed up measures looking forward to achieve the internationally agreed goals and targets for this resource.
