Rabiei, who described the action by the British government as hostile, rejected the comparison of the arrests.
Allahmorad Afifipour, general director of the Ports and Maritime Department of the Iranian province of Hormuzgan, revealed on Saturday to the press that the Stena Impero 'hit a trawler and so, needs to be investigated'.
On Monday, the British government called on Iran to release its oil tanker and the Indian-majority crew, calling the Iranian arguments about the capture of the Stena false pretexts and illegal.
The official spokesman said that the United Kingdom does not seek a confrontation with the Persian nation and described as unacceptable the escalation of tensions between the two States.

Iran Rules out Reprisal in its Action against British Oil Tanker
Tehran, July 22 (Prensa Latina) Iranian Government spokesman Ali Rabiei has ruled out this Monday that the detention of British oil tanker Stena Impero in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz is in retaliation for the confiscation of the super-oil carrier Grace 1 in Gibraltar.
At a press conference, the Iranian official stressed that the capture of the ship by forces of the Guardian Corps of the Islamic Revolution responded to a 'legal, correct and appropriate' measure, based on the current laws of transit through that sea route. He called the attention to the request of some countries that asked Tehran to release Stena Impero despite having committed an illegality, and demanded that those nations should do the same with the United Kingdom after the capture of Grace 1 15 days ago on suspicion of transporting oil to Syria.
