Annexationist Pierluisi standing for governor of Puerto Rico

According to the annexationist politician, he has heard from the people and appreciated the support he enjoys in the street, after his failed attempt to take over the governorship of the island in August, following the overthrow of governor Ricardo Rossello Nevares, who appointed him as secretary of State.
The Supreme Court of Puerto Rico declared his occupation of the governorate as illegitimate, after he was secretly sworn in by a judge at his sister's residence.
Pierluisi claimed that he would bring order to the country by respecting differences and focusing on common goals, so that each child of the homeland can progress.
Pierluisi acknowledged that the colonial status to which Puerto Rico has been subjected over 121 years is the main cause of its socio-economic crisis, but did not allude to the responsibility of Washington.
In addition, he explained that one of his objectives is to prioritize the main components of a decent quality of life, such as safety, health, education, care and protection of the needy and vulnerable sectors.
