Dominican authorities report 810 new Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths
2 de julio de 2020, 16:47Santo Domingo, Jul 2 (Prensa Latina) Dominican health authorities reported on Thursday another 810 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours and 11 deaths.
According to today's press briefing, the country reached 34,197 Covid-19 cases so far, in addition to 18,141 recoveries from Covid-19 and 122,648 people tested negative for carrying SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
The provinces with the highest number of infections are Santo Domingo (10,028), Distrito Nacional (9,053), Santiago (2,461) and San Cristobal (1,949).
Likewise, in the case of deaths, those whose average age is 65 years are the most affected, noting that 69.15 percent are men, who as their health record had long-standing chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Of the new deaths, three were in Santo Domingo, two in the Distrito Nacional, Puerto Plata, and San Cristobal, and one per capita in Bahoruco and Santiago.
Concerning those addmitted in hospitals, there are currently 982 Covid-19 patients hospitalized, which represents 20.36 percent of the beds for this disease in the country and of them, 200 are in Intensive Care Units and 102 put on ventilators, 63 percent of the existing ones.
The Minister of Public Health Rafael Sanchez called for extreme sanitary measures given the rise in cases that occurred lately after the economic reopening and especially now that airports and tourism were opened, as well as everything that these activities entail.
