Nepal's landslide brings about 11 deaths and 27 missing persons
14 de agosto de 2020, 15:2Kathmandu, Aug 14 (Prensa Latina) Nepal's landslide, triggered by monsoon rains, brought about on Friday 11 deaths and 27 missing persons in a rural town.
Another five people, who turned out seriously injured in the incident, were flown in a Nepalese Army helicopter to several hospitals for medical treatment, updated Deputy Superintendent of Police Madhav Prasad Kafle.
At least 15 people managed to escape the disaster and were taken to safe places, The Kathmandu Post newspaper reported.
Over a dozen houses were completely buried and more than 30 dwellings suffered significant damage.
The Interior Ministry distributed tarps, kitchen utensils, blankets, mattresses and clothing to 37 displaced families, at the request of the Sindhupalchok District Crisis Management Committee, where the landslide occurred.
Members of the Nepal Army, Police and Armed Police Force are carrying out rescue work.
