Russia faces new air provocation from the West
Moscow, Sep 17 (Prensa Latina) A Russian Su-27 fighter ended on Thursday a new Western air provocation with the flight of reconnaissance planes from the United States and Sweden over the Baltic Sea, near the Russian coasts.
According to the National Center for Defense Direction, the Russian Baltic Fleet fighter jet identified a US P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft and a Swedish Gulfstream patrol aircraft as they approached national airspace.
After turning both aircraft away from the Russian border the jet fighter returned safely to its base, the center reported.
The antiaircraft defense of the Black Sea fleet activated on Wednesday a SU-27 fighter, which escorted a British RC-135 spy plane away from the southern boundaries of Russia.
A day earlier, a MiG-31 interceptor and a Su-35C fighter prevented a provocative flight by a US B-1B Lancer strategic bomber, flying over the Barents and the Okhotsk seas, near the limits of the country.
According to the Defense Ministry, fighter planes from the Pacific fleet were mobilized for the interception.
Also, two Russian Su-27s and two Su-30s put an end to a provocative flight of three US B-52H strategic bombers over the Black Sea and near the airspace of this country last Monday.
The command of the Ukrainian air force indicated that the flights of the US bombers would be regular in that region in order, as it stated, to guarantee the security of the states of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and its allies.
