Russia demands explanation about US support for terrorists in Crimea
Moscow, Sep 18 (Prensa Latina) Russia on Friday demanded that the United States clarify stories published on its media about an alleged financial assistance to Ukrainian terrorist groups on the Crimean Peninsula, local television reported.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the White House must explain if the said assistance, to which NBC referred in a report that noted that Russia tried to take revenge of that action with an alleged agreement with the Taliban, really occurred.
Moscow underlined that the information about an alleged deal with the Taliban, the Afghan resistance movement, to eliminate US soldiers, is totally false, a report that the Pentagon did not prove either, although some democratic politicians did.
In fact, the Taliban leadership explained at the time that after clashing with the US occupation troops in Afghanistan for several years, no one should pay it or convince it to eliminate a US soldier. If the information is true, the Russian Foreign Ministry wants to know whether Washington supported the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in organizing terrorist attacks on the residents of Crimea, a territory that returned to Russia after a pro-independence referendum in Ukraine.
The Federal Security Service of Russia has aborted several attempts at creating armed groups in Crimea and has arrested spies from the SBU.
