Armenia might ask Russia for new arms supplies
Moscow, Sep 28 (Prensa Latina) Armenia might ask Russia for new arms supplies amid an escalation of the conflict with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh, diplomatic sources said in this capital on Monday.
If necessary, we could address Moscow to ask for arms supplies, said Armenian Ambassador to Russia Bardan Taganian, who clarified that so far, it is not a matter of asking for direct foreign military assistance.
However, Taganian recalled Russia's commitments in the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which also includes Tajikistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kirgizstan.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinian noted in Yerevan that there was no intention to demand support from the CSTO in the dispute with Azerbaijan, which has been accused by the Armenian Defense Ministry of attacking civilian people in Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to Armenian Defense Minister Attsrun Ovanisian, the Azerbaijani Army bombed the city of Markakert on Monday.
