Cuba reports 63 new Covid-19 cases
Havana, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Ministry of Public Health reported on Wednesday 63 new Covid-19 cases, totaling 6,368 patients diagnosed with the disease.
According to the epidemiological report, some 6,719 samples were tested on Tuesday in several molecular biology labs throughout the country, totaling 763,342 PCR tests so far in almost eight months.
The new cases are Cubans, 58 of them were contacts of confirmed cases and the source of infection has not been confirmed in five cases.
Forty-three of 63 new cases reported on Tuesday were asymptomatic when the PCR test was made.
The new cases are from the Cuban provinces of Pinar del Rio (41), Havana, (8), Santi Spiritus (6) and Ciego de Avila (8).
About 3,300 patients are currently in hospitals with Covid-19 for clinical-epidemiological surveillance, 2,313 of them are under surveillance, 562 are suspects, and 425 are active cases.
Of the active patients, 420 are clinically stable, two are in critical health condition and three are seriously ill.
No deaths were reported on Tuesday, so the death toll remains at 127.
Eight patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, totaling 5,814 recoveries. The recovery rate is 91.3%.
