Six million displaced people returned home in Syria
Damascus, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) The Syrian Minister of Municipal Administration and Environment, Hussein Makhlouf revealed today that six million refugees and internally displaced persons returned home in the different provinces of the country.
'One million refugees returned to Syria while five million IDPs returned to their homes,' the minister said during a session of the People's Assembly.
He added that this figure is constantly changing due to the liberation of large areas of the national territory from terrorism, the consolidation of stability and security, and also the facilities offered by the government to the returnees.
According to the incumbent, the blockade and sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union make it difficult to import the machinery necessary to rebuild and improve the infrastructure of services damaged by terrorist actions.
Syria denounced on several occasions, that governments in the West and the Region put pressure to prevent the return of refugees in neighboring countries in order to exploit their humanitarian situation as a political card and pressure on Damascus.
