Beijing, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) President Xi Jinping proposed today to strengthen political trust and economic cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), assuring that the block is a priority in his country's diplomacy.
Speaking at a bilateral event, the president described mutual relations as the most successful and dynamic model implemented to promote trade exchanges in Asia-Pacific.
He highlighted the support and solidarity displayed since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, while calling for the necessary protocols to be followed to contain the disease and make way for the movement of people and goods.
According to Xi, China sees Asean as a key player in the implementation of the Strip and Route project, and wishes to work together with the goal of accelerating the progress and prosperity of all the territories involved.
He called for greater coordination of development plans, pledged to create another land-sea corridor for international trade, expand infrastructure works and raise the strategic association to a higher level.
In addition, Xi Jinping suggested improving dialogue on public health, sharing information and designing plans for vaccine production, development and distribution.
