He noted that the WFTU will continue to strengthen its solidarity with heroic Cuba and Cuban youths until the final victory; until the end of the blockade, the return of the territory occupied by the United States naval base in Guantanamo, and the end of slanders and smear campaigns against that Latin American country.
Mavrikus noted that the organization is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year with 105 million members who live and work in 130 countries in all continents, and welcomed the initiative of holding that event.
The WFTU chief said that this is why he supports the nomination of Cuba's Henry Reeve Medical Contingent for the Nobel Peace Prize, as an acknowledgement of its humanitarian and internationalist assistance to dozens of countries with its medical brigades.
'This campaign has been welcomed enthusiastically by all workers in several corners of the planet,' he stated.
Due to this internationalist assistance, the WFTU congratulated the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Cuban State for their leadership in carrying the flag of the ideal of solidarity and social commitment, Mavrikus stressed.

Athens, Nov 27 (Prensa Latina) The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) said on Friday that Cuba is an ideal and a flag of pride, resistance and internationalism, humanity, altruism and collective spirit, optimism, perspective and victory.
WFTU Secretary General George Mavrikus noted in a communiqué aspects of his speech at the online international youth meeting 'Ideas are flags', organized by the Young Communist League (UJC) of Cuba.
