Caracas, Jan 19 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela's Minister of Health Carlos Alvarado called on Tuesday on the members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) to unite forces to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
'We must help each other to overcome this and all the social problems of the region,' the minister noted during his speech at the special meeting of the regional body for the strengthening of actions to fight against the pandemic.
Alvarado emphasized that thanks to the measures taken by the Venezuelan Executive in the first outbreaks of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Latin America, it has been possible for that nation to maintain incidence figures below many countries in the region.
He explained how from the onset, with the help of Cuba and China, a strategy for the application of successful biosecurity protocols was established, and extreme measures were taken, such as radical quarantines, mandatory use of facemasks, and closing of public places, among others.
Likewise, he highlighted the participation and support of Cuban doctors in the house-to-house investigation and the known sentinel hospitals, created for the massive attention of serious patients and those with mild symptoms.
