Islamabad, Jan 24 (Prensa Latina) Pakistan is reportedly planning to roll out the most advanced 5G internet network available in 2022-23.
Such a breakthrough will accelerate the download speed 10 times to one gigabit per second (Gbps) and widen the country's economic activities.
Pakistan is the first South Asian nation that has kick-started its journey to test 5G technology with a recorded download speed of more than one Gbps, The Express Tribune reported.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Aminul Haque said the government had planned to launch 5G technology by December 2022, but experts are still sceptical, believing the country will take a much longer time (5-7 years) to roll out the next-generation technology.
It is estimated that the economic contribution of the mobile industry in Pakistan could reach $24 billion and would account for 6.6% of total gross domestic product (GDP) in 2023.
