President of Ghana Akufo-Addo reelected

The lawyers of former President Dramani Mahama, of the opposition National Democratic Congress party, requested the annulment of the results of the elections after considering that none of the candidates won more than 50 percent of the votes.
However, the Supreme Court of Ghana maintained that such an assertion is inconsistent since, according to the final counts of the elections released by the National Electoral Commission, the candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Akufo-Addo, got 51.3 percent of the ballots.
Dramani Mahama, however, won 47.3 percent at the polls.
