Venezuela requests support from UN to deactivate anti-personnel mines
Caracas, Apr 14 (Prensa Latina) In a letter to the United Nations, Venezuela requested technical and technological assistance to deactivate anti-personnel mines, a diplomatic source noted.
Venezuelan Ambassador Samuel Moncada met on Tuesday with representatives of the UN Service for Mine-Related Activities, and ratified the request to provide its experience to the Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB).
Venezuela requested the provision of technical aid and advice on capacity development, through the exchange of best practices.
The parties also discussed the exchange of mine action techniques and technologies, as well as support in the design and implementation of rehabilitation and reintegration programs for victims.
