New Covid-19 vaccination campaign announced in Peru
Lima, Apr 15 (Prensa Latina) Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Wednesday announced that his administration is planning to conduct a new Covid-19 vaccination strategy after a day in which 324 deaths were officially reported.
According to the National Information System of Deaths, the daily average coronavirus death toll is 541, including the deceased without diagnosis but with Covid-19 symptoms. Sagasti specified that such a plan will be carried out starting coming Friday with the purpose of vaccinating as many as 718,000 old people over 80 years thanks to the increased arrival of international vaccine doses.
'A greater number of vaccines will allow us to move on faster, and we are ready to respond to the logistical challenge of significantly increasing the number of those vaccinated,' Sagasti said.
The project has a unique Internet platform in which citizens introduce their particulars (from their ID) and are later informed of their vaccination date and place. It will be conducted per municipalities in one single operation.
