Brasilia, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) A team of five inspectors from the National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) of Brazil are in Russia to start inspecting labs where the Sputnik V vaccine is produced.
According to Correio Braziliense daily, the trip was agreed upon last week after a telephone conversation between President Jair Bolsonaro and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, who spoke about ANVISA's difficulties to have access to the necessary data for the clearance of emergency use.
In a statement, the agency explains that the inspectors will visit as of Monday the labs of Generium company, in the city of Vladimir, and UfaVita, in Ufa, the two companies that are currently producing Sputnik V.
The inspectors are supposed to evaluate the vaccine documentation and clinical effects on its effectiveness.
Inspections will be made until Apr.23, and the group will return to Brazil the next day.
Several Brazilian states have requested the emergency use of the Russian vaccine. However, ANVISA's approval is needed to administer the shot.
