Casa de las Americas reiterates support for peace in Colombia
Havana, May 7 (Prensa Latina) The president of Casa de las Americas, Abel Prieto, on Friday reiterated the entity's support for Colombian promoters of peace, justice and dignity for all.
On Twitter, the Cuban intellectual attached importance to the growing international repudiation against the repression of the Duque government against the civilian population in the main cities.
Prieto also alluded to the press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the ambassador of Bogota in Havana referring to the declaration of the Cuban diplomat Omar Rafael Garcia Lazo as 'persona non grata' in Colombia, which reiterates the serious and rigorous commitment of Cuban diplomats with the obligations of the Vienna Convention.
Previously, he recalled that the peace agreements between the Casa de Nariño and the guerrillas, reached in Havana in 2016, 'have been shamefully dismissed by a power that does not hesitate to continue killing and depriving millions of Colombians of their most basic rights.'
On Thursday, Casa de las Americas issued a statement to reject the repression of demonstrations in Colombia, recall the scenario of the national strike that has fulfilled ten days and the death of dozens of civilians, hundreds of wounded and missing persons.
The text referred that trade unions, student and native peoples' organizations implemented this action to demand the cessation of neoliberal policies such as tax, health and pension reforms, the cessation of violence and the implementation of the Peace Agreement.
