US Democrats reject Israeli attacks on Palestinians
Washington, May 14 (Prensa Latina) US Democratic legislators today maintain a critical position against Israel's military offensive in Palestinian territories, which has already killed dozens of civilians and heavily damaged local infrastructure.
In its most recent report, Palestinian officials reported more than 120 deaths, including 31 minors, among them a woman and her three children on Thursday night, besides 830 wounded.
Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar called the Israeli bombings acts of terrorism, while Senators Elizabeth Warren (D), Bernie Sanders (Independent) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) condemned Israel's plans to evict Palestinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem.
Senator Chris Van Hollen (D), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, noted that 'if President Joe Biden's Administration places international law and human rights at the center of its foreign policy, this is not a time for tepid statements.'
Meanwhile, Israel's strongest allies in the Senate Democratic group reject the criticism, arguing that the Zionist state has its own process for determining the legality of evictions and defending itself against Hamas rocket attacks, amid concerns that this could become President Joe Biden's first foreign policy crisis.
Since last Monday, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance, Hamas, and other groups have been facing in inferior condition the Israeli war machine that receives substantial support from Washington.
