Israeli and US officials seek alternative plan against Iran
Tel Aviv, Sep 23 (Prensa Latina) Israeli and US officials held a secret meeting to discuss an alternative plan in case that talks on Iran's nuclear program fail, Walla news portal revealed on Thursday.
Through a secure video conference, members of the bilateral Strategic Consultative Group exchanged views about that issue last week, two Tel Aviv security sources told the website.
The meeting was led by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and his Israeli counterpart Eyal Hulata.
The talks began in Vienna in April with the aim of reviving the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and the world powers, although the pact suffered a major blow after Washington withdrew three years later due to a decision by then President Donald Trump, who implemented tough sanctions against that nation.
The discussions seek to persuade the White House to rejoin the initiative and Iran can return to its commitments on the issue.
Earlier this month, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Aviv Kohavi confirmed that his country has accelerated preparations for a possible attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.
