Israeli FM secretly traveled to Jordan to talk with king of Jordan
Tel Aviv, Sep 26 (Prensa Latina) Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid met secretly in August with King of Jordan Abdullah II and discussed the Palestinian issue and bilateral relations, Channel 12 aired.
The television station noted that Mr. Lapid traveled to Amman to meet with the Hashemite monarch, with whom he dealt with the increased tensions in East Jerusalem as a result of Israel´s expropriation policies.
A month earlier, Prime Minister Naftalí Benett also held a secret meeting with Abdullah II, according to several press reports. Channel 12 detailed these meetings sought to reestablish relations between neighboring countries, strained by Benjamin Netanyahu´s policies.
In addition to Egypt, Jordan was the second Arab nation to recognize Israel, in 1994, although it systematically has friction over Tel Aviv's actions on Palestinians.
