Mexico to open 19 hospitals to treat phase two of Covid-19
Mexico, Mar 25 (Prensa Latina) Mexico will inaugurate in these weeks 19 hospitals to deal with the spread of cases before phase two of the new coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, announced today Victor Hugo Borja Aburto, director of Medical Benefits of Health.
The official of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, reported that the hospitals will be inaugurated soon in view of an accelerated spread of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Gustavo Reyes Teran, head of the Coordinating Commission of National Health Institutes and High Specialty Hospitals, explained that in the process of restructuring medical units will increase from 117 beds to 745.
The Covid units, he specified, are the National Institute of Respiratory Diseases and the Institute of Nutrition and Medical Sciences Salvador Zubiran, as well as the General Hospital of Mexico, the Juarez Hospital of Mexico, and the Regional Hospital of Ixtapaluca.
In Mexico, 405 positive cases were reported, five deaths and 1,219 suspected cases of the Covid-19 virus, reported Hugo Lopez-Gatell, undersecretary for prevention and health promotion.
The health authority also noted that there are seven patients with no history of travel abroad or with a known positive imported strain of the new coronavirus.
