Cuban doctors strengthen Grenada's fight against Covid-19 (+Photos)
Saint George, May 2 (Prensa Latina) Two new doctors are currently strengthening the work of Cuban health professionals in Grenada, as a joint response to the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Specialists in internal medicine and intensive care, the doctors who arrived Friday will join the medical staff of that country that is coordinating the national fight against the new coronavirus, SAR-CoV-2, from St. George's General Hospital.
The Cuban doctors are part of the Henry Reeve Brigade along with the five nurses who arrived last April, and are already serving in the intensive care room of St. George's, which has been converted into a center for the treatment of positive cases.
Welcoming the doctors last Friday night, Grenada's foreign minister, Peter David, thanked Cuba for its cooperation and highlighted the sacrifice of health professionals, who are leaving their families and country, to face the pandemic from the front line.
Likewise, Health Minister Nickolas Steele ratified the government's gratitude and expressed to Cuba's internationalists that they can feel Grenada as their second home.
At the reception at Maurice Bishop Airport, Cuban Ambassador Iraida Guerrero reaffirmed the commitment to cooperate together in this fight against Covid-19 disease and reiterated the willingness to move forward with historical links.
