Mexico applies a different policy to the economic and health crisis
Mexico, May 7 (Prensa Latina) The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, reiterated today at the morning conference that his government applies a different policy to face the economic and health crisis in favor of the majority.
The conference this Thursday at the National Palace was entirely devoted to the issue of the projected economic recovery after the paralysis derived from the containment, mitigation and control measures of the Covid-19 epidemic, aggravated by the fall in oil prices.
The president said that it is important to know what is being done to reactivate the economy and guarantee the well-being of the people, since it is a different economic and social policy than ever, since the first thing was to rescue those from above , indebted the country.
Now we are acting with austerity, not allowing corruption or indebting the nation, and at the same time protecting those most in need. It is what we carry out, he stressed.
I comment that the debts contracted in 1998, 22 years ago, are still being paid and there are about 50 to finish.
He explained that Mexico is making an effort, saving, to support small family businesses and we have already started to give credits of about 1,200 dollars per capita. This has never been done and there are no procedures, in three or four days the money is delivered without intermediaries, paperwork and with very low interest.
There are many loans, more than three million, which include social security companies with more than 600 thousand, those without workers in social security with more than one million, and so-called batches also with more than 600 thousand loans, apart from those granted to workers in the State service with the same amount, he said.
This helps a lot because it is strengthening the economy below and increasing people's consumption capacity, which is complemented by remittances from abroad that benefit 10 million families, he explained.
We are preparing, he announced, for a return to normality and productive activities once we have greater control of the pandemic, a process that could begin from 17 this month in sectors of economic, cultural and social life, but in a careful and responsible.
We are going to be able to do it, he affirmed, due to the great support we are receiving from people who act responsibly, staying at home and keeping a healthy distance despite everything, and this will allow us to get ahead.
