Cyprus' progressive party highlights Cuban solidarity amid pandemic
Nicosia, May 28 (Prensa Latina) The general secretary of the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus (AKEL), Andros Kyprianou, on Thursday highlighted Cuba's solidarity with other countries and its role in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.
During a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to Cyprus, Omar Leyva, the AKEL leader highlighted the work of the more than 2,500 Cuban health workers who provide their help and knowledge to several countries, organized in more than twenty brigades of the International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics Henry Reeve.
Kyprianou and Leyva discussed the international situation and advocated for strengthening ties between AKEL and the Cuban Communist Party.
In addition, they discussed topics of common interest and progress in fighting the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in their own countries.
Cuba's ambassador thanked AKEL for its support for Cuba and its constant denunciation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on his country for almost six decades.
