Terrorist attack on Pakistan's Stock Market frustrated
Islamabad, Jun 29 (Prensa Latina) At least ten people, including four terrorists, were killed on Monday in a frustrated armed attack on the complex of Pakistan's Stock Market in the city of Karachi.
According to a communiqué from the police, a deputy inspector and two security guards were killed on site. Seven people, including three police officers were wounded, according to the website of the Dawn newspaper.
The attackers, who were armed with hand grenades and automatic rifles, tried to break into the complex. The police arrived on the scene shortly after the attack and killed the terrorists.
The police said that modern weapons, hand grenades and explosive materials were recovered from the attackers. The officers of the Bomb Deactivation Unit searched the place for explosive devices.
The Karachi police reinforced security in all major offices and shopping centers in the city.
The terrorists had planned the assault, which included bloodshed and hostage taking inside the building. All attackers were equipped with AK-47 rifles, hand grenades and food.
