China urges India to stop imposing trade restrictions
Beijing, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) China has urged India on Friday to stop imposing obstacles to trade operations and collaborate to resolve bilateral differences, emphasizing that it will protect the interests of its companies with the necessary means.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian highlighted at a press briefing the importance of the pragmatic cooperation with mutually beneficial results for both nations, while warning that any restriction goes against global trade rules.
China and India must respect and support each other in order to guarantee their respective interests, the spokesperson said.
Zhao expressed hope that India will join forces with China on the current discrepancies and seek a final resolution.
The official responded to several measures adopted by New Delhi, such as excluding Chinese companies from road construction projects and reviewing all goods imported from China, which caused an accumulation in ports.
These measures are one more obstacle in the increased frictions between China and India over border issues, although their armies and foreign ministries are seeking a negotiated solution.
