Duque ordered to stop US military operations in Colombia
Bogota, Jul 3 (Prensa Latina) The Administrative Court of Cundinamarca ordered Colombian President Ivan Duque to suspend all US military operations in 48 hours throughout the national territory.
The Court's ruling responds to a tutelage sent by a score of senators, headed by Ivan Cepeda, from Polo Democratico Alternativo.
The Court ordered the president to send the Senate all the information and antecedents related to the arrival and permanence of the Assistance Brigade of the Security Force of the US Army in 48 hours.
It also instructed the president to suspend the juridical effects of the authorization for any activity by that military brigade on Colombian territory, as the Senate assumes his privative function of political control, which it can exercise all the time, according to the Constitution.
The decision denied any pretention on that request and made it clear that the ruling can be challenged before the Council of State, within three days after its notification.
