Haitian police thwart new outcries against insecurity
Port-au-Prince, Jul 6 (Prensa Latina) Haitian National Police (PNH) on Monday broke up afresh a rally against citizen insecurity, organized by Nou pap Domi (We will not sleep) platform in this capital.
The organization called on a sit-in in front of the Ministry of Justice to condemn the killings of hundreds of people this year. However, they were repelled by the law enforcement officers with tear gas.
Pascal Solage, feminist leader and who was part of the young Petrochallanger movement, criticized agents´ behavior and assured that they used excessive force against a group of protesters claiming their rights.
Demonstrators bore signs depicting different messages such as 'We want to live! We have the right to life! Down with insecurity!' and many others, while they asked population to rise up against the authoritarian movement.
'We will not back down, we will not negotiate with conspirators,' they assured during the sit-in and pointed out that the right to protest is set down on the constitution.
