Mexico City, Covid-19 pandemic on the wane
Mexico, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) The Covid-19 epidemic is on the decline in Mexico City, Deputy Health Secretary Hugo Lopez-Gatell said Tuesday at President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's morning conference.
Although he considered it relevant to know that the intensity of the health crisis in the country's capital is decreasing, the official health spokesman called for maintaining preventive measures.
For his part, Lopez Obrador also assured that the curve had been flattened. The medical system has not been overwhelmed. However, we must continue with the preventive measures. We have to continue to maintain a healthy distance, personal hygiene and if it is not indispensable and necessary, stay in our homes,' he said.
Lopez-Gatell reported that the number of confirmed deaths accumulated in the capital since Feb. 28 is 52,658, of which 35,331 were recovered, more than 60 percent, and there are an accumulated 7,53 deaths.
The most committed of the 16 capital cities are Gustavo A. Madero and Istapalapa, the most populous, with 125 sick people per 100,000 inhabitants.
However, the president said his government will keep a close eye on the evolution of the pandemic in the states where contagion has increased, such as Tabasco, Nayarit and Tamaulipas, which have concentrated the greatest number of cases in the last two weeks.
