Colombian athletes travel to Europe for training
Bogota, Jul 15 (Prensa Latina) Colombian sports stars are part of a shortlisted delegation of 180 athletes who will resume training in Europe soon, as part of programs for the ongoing season and the Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Judoka Yuri Alvear and cyclists Egan Bernal, Nairo Quintana, Miguel Angel Lopez and Rigoberto Uran are among the athletes who will participate in the so-called 'Flight of Sport', which will take them on Sunday from Bogota to Madrid, Spain, to train in more favorable scenarios before resuming their competitive schedule.
In a virtual press conference, Alvear, bronze medalist in the 70-kg division in London 2012 and silver medalist in Rio de Janeiro 2016, assured that she is ready to return to the tatamis in Europe, after testing negative for Covid-19.
Other participants in the 'Flight of Sport' are fencer Pablo Trochez, volleyball player Oriana Guerrero, pilot Oscar Andres Tunjo, football players Natalia Gaitan and Isabella Echeverri, and judoka Francisco Balanta, among others.
