We are an antidote, a virtual concert for a united America
Buenos Aires, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) With music, voices from the continent joined together yesterday, Sunday, in a virtual concert in which they pleaded for a region in peace, without blockades or coups d'état, for an 'America of ours.'
For more than two hours, artists, musicians, painters and human rights defenders from Argentina, Cuba, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and Uruguay added their voices to this festival entitled Somos antidote, a balm in these difficult times, with a pandemic that has changed the world by 180 degrees.
Organized by the Espacio de la Fraternidad Argentino Cubana (EFAC), the recital was marked by love for Cuba and its people and the date coincided with a historic feat that led to the triumphant Revolution led by Fidel Castro, the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Cespedes barracks.
The concert was joined by Cuban troubadour Silvio Rodriguez, who gave two beautiful songs: Sin fin y mar and his classic El Necio, Venezuelan Cecilia Todd and several Argentinean voices like Patricia Malanca and Peteco Carabajal, to name a few.
A repeated denunciation against the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba six decades ago, even tightened in times of pandemics, the sanctions on Venezuela or other situations occurring in this region, were heard during the day.
From the Cuban artist Sandor Gonzalez, to the poet Waldo Leyva, to the music of Vicente Feliu, they got together this Sunday.
