Cuba promotes economic development plan until 2030
Havana, Jul 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuba promotes the development of its economy with a program devised until 2030 that strengthens work in the municipalities, according to what was revealed following the most recent meeting of the Council of Ministers, which approved the National Development Plan Economic and Social until 2030; the Policy to promote territorial development, and the Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education Plan.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, Alejandro Gil, explained that the National Plan for Economic and Social Development until 2030 constitutes the guiding document of the national planning system.
Gil emphasized that in the current conditions of international uncertainty due to the crisis generated by Covid-19, the country requires more planning, more foresight, and this Plan leads in this direction.
Conceived in three stages, this program has a flexible approach and lays the foundations for the future transformations of the country in the most diverse settings, the deputy prime minister detailed.
On the other hand, Cuba's Food Sovereignty and Nutrition Education Plan constitutes the national platform to gradually achieve full food security, as was reported after the meeting.
According to the Minister of Agriculture, Gustavo Rodriguez, its purpose is 'to achieve a work management of the Cuban State that facilitates the organization of local, sovereign and sustainable food systems that integrate the production, transformation, commercialization and consumption of food'.
Likewise, it aims to promote a food and nutritional education culture that contributes to the health of the population, all based on the country's capability to produce food in a sustainable way, reducing dependence on external means and inputs.
