WHO mission analyzes SARS-CoV-2 ways of contagion with China
29 de julio de 2020, 20:34Beijing, Jul 29 (Prensa Latina) China said on Wednesday that two experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) held in-depth discussions with local peers regarding the origin and ways of contagion of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes Covid-19.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters that the experts also exchanged opinions about the studies on infected people, the environment, molecules and the animal transmission of the virus, in addition to the next step in scientific research to learn more about its characteristics.
The WHO representatives participated in multiple videoconferences with the hosts, while they were in quarantine, he added.
According to Wang, the WHO considers that tracking the origin of SARS-CoV-2 is a scientific matter with an international scope and based on cooperation.
He noted that the WHO will visit other countries whenever is necessary.
The WHO experts arrived in China in mid-July, after agreeing with China that deepening into the origin of the virus and the consequent disease should be a field of international cooperation and would probably include more territories in the world.
