China accuses US of sowing discord over the South Sea
Beijing, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) China accused the United States today of disturbing the peace, sowing discord and undermining cooperation between countries with coasts to the South Sea, by insisting on being 'arbitrator'in negotiations over that space.
Ren Guoqiang, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, said at a press conference that the dispatch of military ships shows Washington's double standards and hegemonic mentality on the matter.
As noted, thanks to the joint efforts of Beijing and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, ASEAN, the situation and consultations on the South China Sea remain stable.
Ren demanded the White House stop the military provocations in that area and stop instigating disagreements between the countries really involved in an issue, which only concerns them.
He warned that if the United States remains clinging to the hostile stance, it will cause China to take further steps to firmly protect its sovereignty there, regional security and peace.
At another time, Ren also called on the North American country to cut all kinds of defensive ties with Taiwan, considering them a violation of the basic principles of international relations.
The White House's insistence on meddling in those two sensitive issues, and those of Tibet, Hong Kong and Xinjiang, puts bilateral relations at their worst, and even recently Wang Yi himself warned that it is pushing both powers towards Cold War.
Analysts around the world see it difficult for the ties to be cleared of conflicts in the near future and rather predict a worse scenario in the next three months with tensions on the edge, because the government of the Republican Donald Trump will reload its offensive with heavy artillery. and Beijing will be compelled to respond.
In fact, Foreign Minister Wang assured on Tuesday that China will forcefully counterattack every belligerent action by Washington, after warning the U.S. that with its attitude it will drag bilateral ties to the abyss and also create a crisis of divisions in the world.
