South Africa is about to reach half million Covid-19 cases
Pretoria, Jul 30 (Prensa Latina) With the record of 11,362 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, South Africa is rapidly about to reach half million infections by this pandemic.
Indeed, to this day, according to Minister of Health Zweli Mkhize, this country already records 471,123 coronavirus cases, and an average of 500 cases an hour.
In that period, Mkhize's daily statement adds, the Health Department recorded 240 new deaths, 156 in the central province of Gauteng (where the cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria are located).
In addition, there were 27 deaths in the eastern province of KwaZulu Natal, 34 in the southern province of Eastern Cape, and 23 in the also southern province of Western Cape.
Thus, the total number of Covid-19 deaths in this country is 7,497.
Meanwhile, the recovery record is 297,967, which means a recovery rate of 63 percent, according to the text.
At present, South Africa is ranked the fifth nation with the highest infection numbers, with half of the recorded cases in Africa.
