Russian security dismantles extremist cell
Moscow, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The Federal Security Service (FSB) and the Russian Interior Ministry (MVD) dismantled a cell of the international extremist organization Tabligui Jamaarat on Tuesday, after an operation in the province of Volgograd.
According to local television, the security forces arrested the leader of the aforementioned cell and five of its members, who had extremist literature from a group banned in this country since 2009 and materials that demonstrate their membership in the group, the FSB said.
The FSB and MVD arrested last Wednesday members of a cell of the Islamic State terrorist movement (ISIS) who were preparing attacks against law enforcement officials.
The capture operation was carried out in Saint Petersburg, while communication equipment and bank cards destined to carry out criminal actions were requisitioned in the conspiracy house of the ISIS members, naturals from countries of Central Asia.
According to the FSB's public relations center, detainees could also be prosecuted for recruiting future members of extremist groups and for spreading terrorist propaganda.
After the attacks, the extremists planned to travel to the Middle East to join extremist groups.
The FSB prevented another attack in this capital on last Monday, by eliminating a member of a radical group, who was planning an armed aggression in a place of great concentration of public.
