Protests against Netanyahu show disturbing horizon
Ramallah, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) After an unfavorable election race and a questioned alliance with his rival, which hardly allowed him to remain in office, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is still in a jam due to a wave of protests.
In addition to being staged almost daily, the demonstrations against Netanyahu in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem have become more violent, as a reaction to the excessive use of force to repress its participants, and due to recent aggressions by extreme right-wing groups that defend the questioned head of Government, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Israelis accuse Netanyahu of being corrupt and criticize his management of the crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Experts predict more than 2,000 contagions of the new SARS CoV-2 coronavirus every day.
Pressured by the maneuvers of his adversaries to annul his political career with accusations of corruption and insufficient votes in the elections, Netanyahu is trying to remain at the helm of the complex 'governmental union' in conjunction with Defense Minister Benny Gantz.
However, that formula (Gantz must replace him as prime minister in November 2021) was designed to save the nation from the scourge of Covid-19.
The marches and demonstrations, which are increasingly challenging despite attacks and arrests, show people's dissatisfaction with Netanyahu's performance and the breakdown of his image as a politician, as he will have to appear in court for alleged crimes of bribery, fraud and abuse of confidence.
